Faraday Micorgrids provides design engineering, procurement and construction of complete Microgrid systems as well as supplying individual components.

Alternative or Renewable Energy Sources

Energy from solar photovoltaic (PV) panels is a cost effective renewable energy source, especially in areas with a high number of sunny days.
Wind power is also a cost effective renewable power source, especially in areas with consistent high wind levels.
Both solar and wind power can be integrated into a Microgrid to provide independence from the utility power "grid" with attractive cost paybacks.

Conventional Power Sources

Microgrids can also integrate conventional power sources such as natural gas, propane or diesel-fired generators, combined heat and power (CHP) and cogeneration systems to provide additional power when the alternative or renewable sources and/or battery storage systems are not able to provide sufficient energy to meet the demand.

Energy Storage Systems - Batteries

Battery technology is continuing to improve, giving Microgrids the resiliency and back-up power to meet emergency demands.

Energy Management Systems - Controllers

The energy management system (EMS) controller is a key component in any Microgrid, acting as the "brain" of the system providing automatic control and regulation of all functions and energy flows, and helping to seamlessly switch the Microgrid to "island" mode by disconnecting from the utility power "macrogrid".

Other Components

Faraday can provide EV chargers as part of a Microgrid system or as stand alone units.  We can also provide new and/or upgrades to existing LED lighting and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems to reduce the energy usage.
